The BSI KitemarkBSI's highly respected product conformity certification mark, the Kitemark, is extremely well known by specifiers and purchasers throughout the supply chain. Recent NOP polls confirm that a significantly high percentage of the UK population (88%) recognise the Kitemark.
BSI Kitemark schemes involve initial type testing of the product and regular audit testing of samples taken from the factory or the market place.
A BSI test report is issued to the manufacturer upon completion of each test. The test report identifies the product tested, the specification, the tests carried out and the results obtained. These independent test reports are a valuable and impartial source of reference for demonstrating conformity of the product in question.
Additionally, Kitemark schemes require that manufacturers operate a quality management system that complies with BS EN ISO 9002, or BS EN 9001, as appropriate.
BSI carries out an initial assessment of the quality management system to confirm the manufacturer's capability to produce to the required standard. Thereafter, BSI carries out continuing assessment of the factory to ensure that delivered product continues to meet the standard specified.
It is this combination of product testing and on-going surveillance of the factory that makes the Kitemark so highly regarded by specifiers and purchasers.
The Kitemark on the product and its use in promotion literature are key marketing tools in the competitive market place.
